During the global Covid-19 lockdown, UK’s BBC Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson took the opportunity to unleash his creative energy in a unique way. With a background in game design (Matt had previously published Obama Llama with Big Potato) he set out to develop fresh gaming experiences. Matt became a jack-of-all-trades, teaching himself graphic design, packaging, and copywriting, while also mastering the ins-and-outs of game manufacturing—essentially, learning everything necessary to bring his own games to market. Matt teamed up with his brother-in-law, Laurence Emmett, an experienced businessman, to create Format Games. With a focus on fun and fast-paced games, we made a splash in 2021 with two original titles: Egg Slam, an interactive color-mixing card game, and So Wrong It's Right, a trivia game that players couldn't get enough of.
In 2022, Format Games took another leap forward by expanding our team and launching new games. Karen and Wheels Vs Doors took the UK by storm, earning a coveted spot on I TV's This Morning's "Must-Have Xmas Games" list, quickly selling out as a result. Fast forw ard to 2023, and these hit games are making their American debut, along with Toodles, Format Games' highly anticipated new release of the year.
With an arsenal of fresh games already in development and a wealth of innovative ideas still tucked aw ay in Matt's creative vault, the Format Games team is just warming up. So, you think you can complain better than Karen? We doubt it, but you can always try in our game KAREN. Based on the funniest REAL one-star reviews found online, Karen takes complaining to a WHOLE new level. Was the beach TOO sandy? Did the water in the restaurant taste of meat? Did the paddling pool come without water? Karen is all about coming up with even more ridiculous reviews than these real ones!
The gameplay is simple: in Karen each player is going to sneak their ow n fake complaints in amongst hilarious REAL one-star reviews found online, to try and convince their opponents that THEY are the real Karen...
Players start with five stars on their scoring star boards. The aim of the game is to lose four of your stars and be the first player w ith only one star left on your board. Players need to win five points to be able to remove a star. They mark off these winning points by drawing a disappointed mouth on the Karens at the top of their pads.
Each round, a player takes on the role of the ‘host’. They w ill set a challenge for the other players, which will involve them creating their own FAKE reviews to fool the other players into believing they’re the real Karen. This game isn’t about getting the RIGHT answer- it’s about coming up with your own funny suggestions and tricking the other players into believing your creation is the real complaint.

Sure, drawing on your own is fun, but have you tried drawing with someone else, using the same pen, at the same time? It’s twice the fun!
In Toodles, the NEW game from Format Games, two people draw something at the same time with NO communication. Players rack up points in teams by choosing to draw an object from three distinct categories, Easy, Medium, and Hard. Once a category is selected, players select a card and roll the dice to find out what they need to draw. Without talking, players have 30 seconds to draw a picture together at the same time using their Toodle wands. After 30 seconds, the other players must guess what has been draw n before the 30 seconds is up!
Players win points for guessing the object correctly – 1 point for Easy Cards, 2 points for the Medium Cards and 3 points for the Hard Cards. I f playing as one team, count your score after 10 rounds and see how well you have fared against the TOODLE-O-METER. If playing in two teams, the team w ith the most points after 10 rounds w ins!

What are there more of in the world, Wheels or Doors? In March 2022, this unanswerable question was thrown out on Twitter by a man from New Zealand, and it sparked a global debate that still rages on today. The answer to this debate we will, frankly, never know (although Team Format Games sit firmly on Team Wheels!).

Wheels Vs Doors is best played in groups, w here players will have 5 poker style chips which they can use to place bets on what they think there are most of in the world. Players begin with 3 w heel and door tokens and will be asked w hat you think there is more of in the world, comparing two different and random things each time. Players win more tokens if they bet correctly. The first player or team to win 10 tokens of either wheels or doors, wins!

Exploding Kittens: Good vs. Evil is an epic game! It's a quick-play game and so much fun! New Rules. New Kittens. NEW MAYHEM.
Players draw cards until somebody draws an Exploding Kitten. At which point they explode and are out of the game. Unless they defuse the Kitten with a Defuse Card. To get started, we downloaded the Twister Air app on an iPad and placed it in the included stand. Then players put the bands on their wrists and ankles, and they were ready for action!
As the music plays, players move their body to match their bands to the colored spots on screen. Reach, swipe, clap, and strike crazy poses. The more spots hit, the higher the score. Earn the most points to win! We also played solo and try to beat a past record.
